OT and PT and asthma, oh my.

I’ve been pretty quiet this week. I haven’t had two minutes to breathe, let alone sit down and be able to write out a blog post. This week has been nuts. Brady’s physical therapist came on Monday, which is the norm. For those who don’t know, here is what’s going on in Brady’s brain. Tuesday we had an appointment for Addie. At her check up last month, our pediatrician diagnosed her with asthma and we wanted some more answers, so we made an appointment at an asthma specialist and they confirmed that she has asthma and gave us an action plan and prescriptions for an inhaler and a preventative to start taking in November, since her symptoms show up worse in the winter.

On Thursday, we had an appointment for an Occupational Therapy evaluation. Brady’s therapist suggested that we see if Addie qualified for services. To put it lightly, our sweet girl is like a bull in a china shop. She runs, crashes, jumps, screams, and doesn’t stop. At this age it’s hard to know if it’s typical toddler behavior or if it’s something a little deeper.

Miss Addie was diagnosed with sensory processing disorder. She is a sensory seeker in every sense of the word.  I’m relieved to know that her behavior is not our fault, nor is it hers. But at the same time, I’m just overwhelmed by all of the new information and diagnoses I have been dealt in the last couple of months. I’m thankful that we are able to take steps to help both of our sweet babies and I know that things could be so much worse. Other than these minor set backs, all three of our kids are healthy and healthy.

Next week is going to be a busy one, with Brady’s physical therapist appointment on Monday, Addie’s occupational therapist appointment on Tuesday, and then heading up to Maine to visit Keith’s mom Wednesday-Sunday.

I am currently at Starbucks enjoying their new Vanilla Sweet Cream  Cold Brew (gamechanger!) and waiting for Rachel to get off of work. We are having a sleepover tonight at her place and then going up to York Beach tomorrow for our 4th annual beach day! Every year we each make a playlist to listen to in the car and I am just finishing mine up. I will share it this weekend! What are your plans for the next couple of days? Hope that you have lots of sunshine and warm weather!

  1. I’m so glad you were able to find out some answers. Take this time to care for your little and never apologize for being absent on Social media ! 🙂
